This list is for advocates in New York State that assist unaccompanied runaway and homeless youth (typically 16-24 years old) navigate shelter, benefits and subsidized housing programs and systems. Membership is limited to advocates and providers, and not open to government officials. Homeless youth often experience particular barriers to accessing public benefits, subsidized housing and homeless shelters in New York (including youth-specific as well as family/adult shelters). This listserv will focus on the interactions of homeless youth and their advocates with housing, shelter and benefits programs. The goal of this listserv is to function as a space for providers and advocates to raise questions, share information, discuss emerging patterns, and share tips and solutions. To post to the list please send emails to rhyadvocates@wnylc.com. When posting be aware that other providers and advocates will see this information, so please be certain not to post information that identifies a specific client or participant. Subscribing to RHYadvocates
Subscribe to RHYadvocates by filling out the following form. This is a closed list, which means your subscription will be held for approval. You will be notified of the list moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.
